Do you receive Housing Benefit or Universal Credit?
If you are experiencing difficulty keeping up with your rent payments, it is important to ensure you are claiming all the financial support to which you may be entitled. This assistance could make a crucial difference in your ability to pay rent on time.
Depending on your circumstances, benefits may cover part or all of your rent. To understand what you may be eligible for, we encourage you to speak with our Financial Wellbeing Team.
If you need to make a new claim for help with rent, you will likely need to apply for Universal Credit — the system that has replaced several previous benefits, including Housing Benefit, for most individuals.
If you are already receiving Housing Benefit, your payments will continue as normal. However, if your circumstances change you may be required to make a new claim for Universal Credit. Please note all working age tenants in receipt of Housing Beneift are in the process of migrating to Universal Credit please contact us if you need support and advice with this transition.
