Local Historian & Artist | 22 April 2026
The Auld Friends Group were delighted to welcome back Lil Brookes, local historian and artist, for her second visit, continuing our journey through Paisley’s rich local history.
This session focused on the Mill and East End area of Paisley, sparking lots of memories and discussion among the group. Lil shared fascinating insights into key figures and places that helped shape the town, including Peter Kerr, the Clarks and Coats families, Kilnside House, and many more local stories that resonated deeply with those attending.
The conversation flowed throughout the afternoon, with members sharing their own recollections and connections to Paisley’s past, making the session both informative and warmly nostalgic.
Thanks to support from the Winter Connections Grant, everyone was also able to enjoy lovely food and drinks in a warm, welcoming space, helping to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where people could connect, chat and reminisce together.
We’d like to thank Lil Brookes for another engaging and meaningful visit, and our members for making the afternoon such a success.
