How we've been working with tenants to shape our policies
You said, We Listened
Over the past few months, we’ve been consulting with residents on a range of important policy updates — and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views.
We used a mix of digital surveys and in-person conversations to make sure as many people as possible could get involved. Whether you completed a quick online questionnaire or stopped to chat with us at an event or visit, your feedback has been invaluable.
This approach helps us reach more residents in ways that suit you:
- 📱 Online surveys for convenience and quick feedback
- 🤝 Face-to-face discussions for more detailed conversations
- 🗨️ Community engagement sessions to hear shared experiences
What happens next?
Now that the consultation stage is complete, we are:
- Reviewing all feedback received
- Identifying common themes and suggestions
- Updating policies where appropriate
Your views will directly help shape how we deliver services and support tenants moving forward.
Keeping you updated
We’ll continue to keep you informed as policies are finalised, and we’ll share what’s changing and why — so you can clearly see how your input has made a difference.
If you didn’t get a chance to take part this time, don’t worry — there will be plenty of future opportunities to get involved.
💬 Your voice matters, and we’re committed to making it heard.
👉 Want to get involved in future consultations?
Keep an eye on this page or follow us on social media for upcoming surveys and opportunities to share your views.

Kiltwalk 2026
Posted on 24th Apr 2026
Walking for a Cause Close to Our Hearts
Williamsburgh team proudly took part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk – 14.5 mile Big Stroll, raising money for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, in loving memory of Graham Scott.
The hospice provides incredible care and support to individuals and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives, and we were honoured to support the vital work they do.
It was a fantastic day for the team, and we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, shared our fundraiser and cheered us on — every contribution, no matter the size, truly makes a difference.
We’ve set up a Williamsburgh Kiltwalk Team JustGiving page for anyone who would still like to show their support.
👉 Support our Kiltwalk team and donate here: Just Giving Page
Donating through Just Giving is quick, easy and completely secure. Your donation goes directly to The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, helping to keep costs low and maximise the impact of every pound given. If you’re a UK taxpayer, JustGiving will also automatically claim Gift Aid, making your donation worth even more at no extra cost to you.
Thank you for your continued support 💜💜

Rent Increases
From April, your rent may increase.
If your benefits don’t cover the full amount, you’ll need to pay the difference.
Make sure you update your details:
- Universal Credit:
Report the change to your housing costs through your UC journal. - Housing Benefit:
Contact Renfrewshire Council to update your claim as soon as the change takes effect.
Updating your information promptly helps keep payments accurate and prevents arrears.
Changes to Universal Credit
Transitional Protection
If you receive transitional protection, this may reduce if your income or housing costs increase. Our team can help you check whether this affects you.
LCWRA Replaced by the Health Element (from 6 April)
The Limited Capability for Work and Work‑Related Activity (LCWRA) element (around £423 per month) is being replaced with a lower Health Element (around £217 per month) for people newly assessed after 6 April 2026.
If you currently receive LCWRA, this change does not apply to your existing award.
Support for Families in Scotland
Scottish families affected by the two‑child limit may now receive additional support for children who were previously excluded.
This additional payment can help with:
- food and essential items
- clothing and school costs
- childcare
If you’re unsure whether this applies to your family, we can help check.
Extra Support You May Be Able to Access
There are several sources of additional help:
- Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP):
Short‑term assistance if your rent isn’t fully covered. - Energy vouchers:
Help with rising energy costs for eligible households. - Charitable grants:
Support from local and national charities for essential items and emergencies.
If you’re not sure what you might qualify for, we’re here to guide you.

Energy Support Success Stories
Helping our community stay warm, informed and financially secure
Over the past year our Financial Wellbeing Team has been working closely with tenants and staff to improve energy awareness, reduce household costs and connect people with the support they’re entitled to. Through a mix of group sessions, one‑to‑one appointments and strong partnership working, we’ve made a real difference to households across our communities.

Energy Awareness Sessions
Our team delivered a series of practical and easy‑to-follow sessions covering:
- How to understand your energy bill
- Reading and comparing tariffs
- Making the most of smart meters
- Simple ways to save energy at home
- How to access emergency fuel vouchers during a crisis
- Information on Scotland’s key support schemes, including:
- Warm Home Discount
- Winter Heating Payment
- Child Winter Heating Payment
- Pension Age Winter Heating Payment
We were delighted to work alongside Energy Action Scotland and Citizens Advice Scotland, who helped ensure tenants received the most accurate and up‑to‑date guidance.
Making a Real Difference
Behind every session is a person or family who benefits from the right advice at the right time. Here are some recent successes:
- £223.48 weekly income increase secured for a pension‑age couple after unclaimed benefits were identified
- £909 reduction in rent arrears through a successful Discretionary Housing Payment application
- Over £10,000 in backdated benefits awarded to a vulnerable tenant, clearing arrears and stabilising their tenancy
- £1,284 in energy credits and corrections achieved after escalating an incorrect energy bill and disconnection
These outcomes show how vital early advice and specialist support can be in helping tenants stay on top of their finances and maintain secure homes.
Need Support? We're Here to Help
If you’re worried about your energy bills, rent, benefits or household budget, our Financial Wellbeing Team can help with:
- Benefit checks
- Income maximisation
- Budgeting advice
- Energy support and help with bills
- Access to grants, vouchers and discounts

Thanks to everyone who has been sending in footage to help us tackle issues locally. We’re receiving a lot just now, so to keep things running smoothly we’ll only be reviewing clips that relate directly to:
✔ Anti‑social behaviour
✔ Harassment
✔ Potential tenancy breaches
If you believe a crime may have taken place, please report it to Police Scotland straight away and then let us know.
Together, we can keep Williamsburgh communities safe.
