We know the ins and outs of social and affordable housing can get a little confusing, so let us explain what it is and who can apply.
To put it simply, social housing exists to give people a home. We are a housing association and social housing landlord, which means we have homes available that are generally more affordable to rent than privately owned housing and usually offer a longer, more secure tenancy. Social housing includes homes owned by councils or housing associations (like us!).
Am I eligible for social or affordable housing?
We’ll have to do a few checks when you apply, but in general you’ll need to:
- Be aged 16 or over
- Have been assessed as being in housing need
The eligibility criteria of our assessments will be carried out using your completed application form. Remember, we’ll also take the size of your household into account when allocating you a home
You can find out more about eligibility by taking a look at our referrals and allocations policy and reading our how to rent a home FAQs.
